چکیده

Forward osmosis (FO) is increasingly being studied as an alternative desalination technique to the other conventional technologies, owing primarily its low energy potential. However, co-opted limitations in draw solution (DS) regeneration stage FO processes and lack of effective DS have hampered FO's implementation for potable water application on industrial scale. In this work, we explored Donnan principle engineer a material having duality magnetic solar-thermal separability functionalities from sustainability viewpoint whilst exploiting careful selection properties. A novel potassium functionalised iron oxide doped carbon nanofibres (K/Fe3O4/CNF) nanoparticles (MNPs) was successfully synthesised applications, utilising eco-friendly strategy that improves hydrophilicity without polymers. The obtained significant osmotic pressure (86.1 bar), it performance showed small reverse salt flux (RSF) specific (SRSF) values 0.10 gMH 0.004 g/L, respectively. These compare at least <10 % most RSF SRSF reported literature. facile synthesis adopted herein will potentially open new route preparing nanomaterials with unique multi enhanced devoid Whilst re-concentration may be achievable, additional research required appraise methodology's overall implications economic advantages over existing recovery methods.

Performance of Potassium Bicarbonate and Calcium Chloride Draw Solutions for Desalination of Saline Water Using Forward Osmosis

Forward osmosis (FO) has recently drawn attention as a promising membrane based method for seawater and brackish water desalination. In this study, we focus on the use of calciun chloride (CaCl2) and potassium bicarbonate (KHCO3) as inorganic salt draw solution candidates due to their appropriate performance in water flux and reverse salt diffusion as well as reasonable cost. The experiments we...

A new method for water desalination using microbial desalination cells.

Current water desalination techniques are energy intensive and some use membranes operated at high pressures. It is shown here that water desalination can be accomplished without electrical energy input or high water pressure by using a source of organic matter as the fuel to desalinate water. A microbial fuel cell was modified by placing two membranes between the anode and cathode, creating a ...

The Effect of Magnetic Nanoparticles along with Magnetic Experimental Modeling for the Desalination of the Caspian Sea Water

In this study, samples were taken of coastal waters of Kiashahr port. Magnetic desalination consisted of exposing the sample to a Magnetic field and putting the water in physical contact with magnetic nanoparticles which were synthesized with the co-precipitation method. X-ray diffractometer, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and field-emission scanning electron microscopy were used for t...

Electrochemical Desalination for a Sustainable Water Future

Fresh water is required to sustain life. However, the world is facing a global challenge to reliably supply its population with safe water due to shortages stemming from population growth, climate change, contamination of available fresh water supplies, and public policy. Presently, the United Nations estimates that one third of the world’s population ( 2.4 billion people) is living in water-st...

Salty Water Cerenkov Detectors for Solar Neutrinos

The addition of certain solutes to a water Cerenkov detector will introduce new charge-current channels for the detection of νes. The experimental conditions necessary to exploit such signals large volumes and very low backgrounds should be reached for the first time in SuperKamiokande and SNO. I compare some of the more attractive possibilities (7Li, 11B, 35Cl) in terms of counting rate, relia...
